Last week, I went on a boudoir and wedding shoot up near York. I must admit that I was a little apprehensive; boudoir when done properly can look amazing but all too often it can look cheap and dare I say it, ever so slightly smutty! I'm all for fabulous and arty and making we ladies look beautiful, but the 'Benny Hill's angels' look was definitely not what I was aiming for.
It turns out that it's all about the poses and the lighting. Makes sense really; harsh lighting will show every imperfection and for me, it's all about suggestion and leaving something to the imagination rather than having all one's charms on display. Beautiful lingerie, fabulous silks, satins and velvets and maybe a few pearls, sequins or feather thrown in for good measure. I was, to coin a phrase, chuffed with the images.
We concentrated on a fully dressed bride in the afternoon (!), photographing her in trees, meadows and the woods to create beautiful, quirky images, which are just a little different to some of the more traditional bridal shots that one might see. A few of these can be viewed in the wedding gallery if you want to take a peek.
And if anyone fancies creating some beautiful boudoir pictures of their own, just get in touch!
